In this background, a circular has been issued by the Udupi district administration and education department to take precautionary measures for school children in coastal areas. According to the circular, children are restricted from playing outdoors from 11 am to 3 pm. Students should drink plenty of water and avoid direct sun exposure.

The Public Education Department has directed all schools through district BEOs. School principals, teachers and parents have been instructed to provide adequate drinking water for school children. Exams have started in some places and it is very important for children to stay hydrated. Staff are instructed to arrange proper atmosphere while preparing hot midday meal. The department has also asked the schools to submit a report on the action taken.
