A 36-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter allegedly died by suicide in Bengaluru on Monday after her husband and in-laws refused to give away their pet dog despite doctors advising her to stay away from dogs due to an allergy.

The deceased woman was identified as Divya. Divya was a homemaker while her daughter was a class 6 student at a private school.

The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide at the Govindpura police station against Divya’s husband Srinivas, mother-in-law Vasantha and father-in-law Janardhan.

Police sources said Divya was suffering from breathing problems and the doctors had advised her to stay away from dogs to improve her health. She had reportedly urged her husband and in-laws to give away the dog but they refused to give in to her request.
