“Police in Assam's Sribhumi district apprehended and expelled 28 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in the State,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday (November 7, 2026).
In a post on X, Mr. Sarma said the State government would continue its drive against infiltration and would not compromise on Assam's security and identity.
"Assam's patience with infiltration is over. Twenty-eight illegal migrants detected by Sribhumi Police were expelled. We will continue this mission with unwavering determination. No compromise on our borders. No compromise on the security and identity of Assam,'' he added.
Assam has an integrated checkpost in Sribhumi and a land customs station at Mankachar. Mr. Sarma had earlier said the State government is committed to an infiltration-free Assam. The Border Security Force has intensified its vigil along the 1,885 km Indo-Bangladesh border in the Northeast since the 2024 disturbances in Bangladesh. Assam Police has also maintained a high alert along the International Border to prevent illegal entry.
