Dublin-based Heneghan Peng Architects consortium, designers of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt, the Salt Works Complex in Germany, and the National Gallery of Ireland, will design the Museum of Innovation, Startup & Technology (MIST) in Bengaluru. Phase 1 of the museum is targeted for completion in 2028.

Registered as Karnataka Technology Innovation Museum Foundation (KTIMF), MIST is a Public-Private Partnership between the not-for-profit UnboxingBLR Foundation (51%) and the Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology (ITBT), Government of Karnataka (49%). The museum will document India’s journey in the world of innovation, start-ups, and technology.

MIST will be established within the repurposed Switchgear Factory Shed at NGEF, Baiyappanahalli, which is located within a 105-acre urban forest with 65 acres of green cover. It will share space with the twin institution Innoverse, led by the Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka. Innoverse will function as a hub to incubate startups, and foster corporate and international partnerships.

Though independently governed as separate Section 8 companies, both KTIMF and Innoverse share a site. They will be developed through a common Design & Technical Agency (DTA) selection process. Heneghan Peng Architects consortium was selected as the DTA following a two-stage global Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) process.

We hope this world class museum offers a unique immersive experience to showcase this impressive journey,” said Prashanth Prakash, Chairperson of KTIMF and UnboxingBLR.
