Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to induct the 13th trainset for Yellow Line into commercial operations from next week, senior BMRCL officials said. The addition is expected to strengthen operations on the 19.75-km R.V. Road-Bommasandra corridor and help improve service frequency in the coming weeks.

The six-coach train, manufactured by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. (TRSL) near Kolkata, arrived at the Hebbagodi depot in June. Officials said that the train has successfully completed the mandatory 750 km of dynamic testing on the main line tracks and is now ready to be pressed into passenger service.

At present, 10 trainsets are operational on the Yellow Line, allowing metro services at a peak-hour frequency of around seven minutes and a 10-minute frequency during non-peak hours.

BMRCL expects waiting times to reduce significantly once all 15 trainsets are commissioned, with trains operating every four to five minutes during peak hours.

Meanwhile, BMRCL recently received the 14th trainset for the Yellow Line at the Hebbagodi depot after multiple delays. The newly delivered train is currently undergoing mandatory inspections and performance tests before it is cleared for commercial operations.

TRSL now has only one more trainset left to deliver for the Yellow Line. According to officials, the final train is expected to reach Bengaluru by the end of July.
