Days after a 32-year-old private firm employee was allegedly sexually harassed by a delivery executive at her apartment in Marathahalli, a similar incident has been reported from Electronic City, where a delivery agent was arrested for allegedly entering a woman’s flat on the pretext of using the washroom before stripping and exposing himself.
The accused was caught by residents and a security guard after the woman raised an alarm. He was later handed over to the Hoysala police.
According to the complaint, the woman has been living in the apartment on rent for about a year and had ordered a rental agreement renewal document online on July 17. At around 9.20 a.m., the delivery agent arrived with the document and requested an OTP after handing it over.
When the woman went inside to fetch her mobile phone, the delivery agent allegedly entered the apartment without permission and requested to use the washroom. After she refused, he allegedly went into the washroom and, about two minutes later, emerged naked and exposed himself to her.
Shocked by the incident, the woman rushed out of the apartment and raised an alarm. The accused allegedly remained inside for another three to four minutes before getting dressed and stepping out, where he was overpowered by neighbours and the apartment’s security guard. The Hoysala police were alerted, and they took him into custody before handing him over to the jurisdictional police station.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Mahesh N.K., charging him with sexual harassment, stalking, and trespass for further investigation.
In the earlier incident, the Marathahalli police, on July 12, tracked down the accused Vijay Mallikarjun Kamath. According to the victim, the accused arrived at her home to deliver a parcel before asking if he could use the washroom. Despite refusing his request, he walked into the flat, used the washroom and flashed at her after coming out. The victim raised an alarm, following which he escaped.
