With complaints over garbage collection continuing, the North City Corporation will hold a special phone-in programme every Tuesday from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to hear residents’ grievances related to solid waste management alone.
Residents can complain about the timing of waste collection vehicles, pourakarmika services, waste collection arrangements in their areas, and problems with waste disposal. The phone-in programme will be led by the joint commissioners.
The Corporation has also prepared micro-plans for all seven divisions to improve door-to-door waste collection and street cleaning. The microplan is aimed at coordinating the routes of auto-tippers and pourakarmikas and identify and manage bulk waste generators, Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar said.
The plans have been prepared considering the number of households and commercial establishments, population, and the quantity and type of waste generated in each area. They also map the routes of pourakarmikas and auto-tippers, compactors, mini transfer stations, commercial areas, garbage blackspots and densely populated residential areas, the Commissioner said.
Residents can contact the Corporation’s control room on 9480685705 (mobile/WhatsApp) or 080-22975936 and 080-23636671 (landline) to raise complaints related to solid waste management.
