All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora and other leaders were detained by the Delhi Police near the Safdarjung Airport flyover in New Delhi while they were on their way to the protest at Dilli Haat.

Meanwhile, AISA leaders have told The Hindu that Delhi Police has illegally taken away the phones of Neha Bora and Nirma, AISA activist at Maidan Garhi detention centre.

AISA leader Neha Bora was released later in night and got their phone back.

Neha Bora and Ms. Nirma have been kept in a isolated room, and the police are not allowing lawyers to meet them, the party alleged. “We demand Neha’s and Nirma’s phone be immediately returned and they be allowed to meet their lawyers,” they said.

Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)-Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, political commentator Yogendra Yadav and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan were also detained.

“I am in detention. The movement is not. People are assembling at SAFDARJUNG FLYOVER right now. If you can, reach. If you are stopped, sit down where you are and hold the line,” said Neha Bora in a video shared on X.

Amid the curbs and restrictions by the Delhi Police, Neha Bora, in a post on X, said, “Dilli Haat becomes Jantar Mantar today”.

Earlier in the day, Neha Bora slammed the Delhi Police for detaining citizens “without any grounds” in view of the planned anti-CEC protest at Jantar Mantar.

“First, the complete shutdown of the capital, now the detention and barricading of every citizen in the capital, and those on their way. They tell you they’re not afraid, they tell you the protest will be a flop. The truth is out for all to see. Jantar Mantar 2.0 is on!,” she wrote on X.

Delhi Police has erected barricades from Jor Bagh to prevent entry of protesters to Dilli Haat.

However, a number of protesters were seen proceeding to Dilli Haat by walk using bylanes.
