Electoral authorities in Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts reviewed the ongoing electoral-roll revision process on Thursday, with officials directed to ensure that verification and deletion of entries were carried out strictly according to rules.

In Visakhapatnam, Roll Observer S. Bhargavi directed officials to conduct field-level verification of rejected applications and doubtful cases wherever necessary, rather than relying solely on records. She said a clear reason should be recorded before deleting any voter from the electoral roll and stressed that field-level information and data entered in the ECINet should match.

She called for special scrutiny of areas where large numbers of additions or deletions had been recorded and of places where significant changes were noticed in the details of voters who had voted previously. Officials were also asked to pay particular attention to door-number mismatches and expedite pending inspections, form verification and super-checks. She said the work in Visakhapatnam South Assembly constituency was good, while more thorough and quality scrutiny was required in the North constituency. She also asked officials to continue the SVEEP process.

Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidyadhari said notices had been issued in relation to 2,29,924 electoral entries identified under the absent, shifted, duplicate and deceased categories and that verification was being carried out according to the prescribed procedure.

In Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Collector T. Nishanthi said 4,088 notices had been issued as part of SIR-2026. Of 385 cases taken up for verification, 133 persons were found ineligible for inclusion in the final electoral roll. She said special care was being taken to ensure that eligible voters were not inadvertently deleted.

Booth Level Officers will undertake door-to-door verification wherever required from October 8. Eligible persons left out of the electoral roll can apply through Form-6. After verification, their names can be included through the Continuous Updation process. The final electoral roll in the ASR district is scheduled for publication on October 16.
