Bengaluru police fire at a man suspected of illegal arms after he attacked an officer during an arrest attempt.

The police on Friday opened fire at a 34-year-old man suspected of making illegal arms after he allegedly attacked a police constable with a weapon during a bid to detain him in connection with a recent murder case.
The incident unfolded near Somusundarpalya Lake in southeast Bengaluru around 12.50 a.m. The accused Zeeshan, a resident of Subash Nagar in Electronic City, is suspected to be an associate of Adil Akmal, who was arrested by the Madiwala police in connection with the murder of Suhail, a 40-year-old medical shop owner.
Suhail was hacked to death by an armed gang in full public view on Madiwala Main Road on the night of August 22. Nearly six persons have been arrested so far.
Continuing the investigation, the police were searching for Zeeshan. Acting on credible information about his whereabouts, Bandepalya sub-inspector Sachin Gowda and police constable Sandeep Kamble went to arrest him near the lake.
Zeeshan, upon seeing the police, tried to evade the arrest by brandishing a weapon. Although the officers reportedly attempted to persuade him, Zeeshan allegedly attacked Kamble, injuring his left hand, said the police sources.
The police said Gowda reportedly first opened fire in the air in an attempt to stop Zeeshan. However, Zeeshan allegedly continued to attack the police and also threw chilli powder at them.
As a last resort, Gowda fired another round, hitting Zeeshan in his right leg, the police said. Both Zeeshan and Kamble were subsequently shifted to the Sanjay Gandhi Trauma Centre in Jayanagar.
The police said both are out of danger.
The scene of crime officers visited the spot and reviewed the crime scene.
A case has been registered at the Bandepalya Police Station under Sections 109, 132, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act.
