India Accelerates 2036 Olympic Ambitions

The Indian government has announced an ambitious plan to host 29 international sporting events over the next two years as part of its campaign to secure the 2036 Olympic Games. The initiative aims to showcase India's ability to organize world-class sporting competitions and strengthen its position on the global stage.

Major Infrastructure Push

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said India has already hosted dozens of international events in recent years and plans to increase that number significantly by 2028. The strategy includes upgrading sports infrastructure, training officials, and improving event management capabilities across multiple cities.

Ahmedabad at the Centre

Ahmedabad is expected to play a key role in India's Olympic vision. The city has already been confirmed as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games and is also bidding to host the 2038 Asian Games, making it a major hub for future international sporting events.

Building India's Global Sporting Reputation

Officials believe hosting more international competitions will provide Indian athletes with greater exposure while demonstrating the country's readiness to organize one of the world's biggest sporting events. The initiative is also expected to boost tourism, infrastructure investment, and employment opportunities.
