The Kalamassery police have issued fresh summons to Reporter TV managing director Anto Augustine and two unidentified people over the alleged defamatory remarks that he made against Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.
Mr. Augustine has been asked to appear before investigators at 10 a.m. on Thursday (October 1, 2026), a senior police officer said. The fresh summons was issued after Mr. Augustine did not turn up at the station on Monday for interrogation citing inconvenience. He has also moved the High Court seeking to quash the first information report in the case.
The case pertains to an alleged revelation made by Mr. Augustine that two people had met him with what they claimed was a journalistic scoop on Mr. Satheesan’s alleged second marriage. He claimed that his channel did not telecast the news after his team could not verify the allegation. The case was registered on a complaint filed by Congress spokesperson Raju P. Nair, alleging conspiracy behind the revelation.
