Kurukshetra man stabbed to death in Germany, had planned to visit home on Diwali

The motive of the murder could not be immediately ascertained.

A 25-year-old man from Kurukshetra was allegedly stabbed to death in Frankfurt, Germany, by a group of three men on Tuesday, his family said on Thursday.

The motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained. The man, who was identified as Vishu Sharma from Mahadev Mohalla, last spoke to his family on Monday.

Vishu’s father Neeraj Sharma, who works at a jewellery shop, said: "We did not hear from him on Tuesday and learnt of his death on Wednesday morning from his roommate Gaurav. He said Vishu had injuries on his body. After some time, Gaurav switched off his phone. Then, we sent one of our relatives living in Germany to the hospital to identify him.”

He added: “I was told that on Tuesday, a group of three men called Vishu outside his room and stabbed him to death, after which Gaurav rushed my son to the hospital.”

Vishu’s family said he had left for Portugal in November 2022 and was due to come home this Diwali. They added that they spent approximately ₹20 lakh and sold a plot of land to send him to Portugal in search of a good job.

After a year, Vishu shifted to France, where he underwent six months of military training and served in the French Army for about a year. After leaving the French Army, he moved to Germany and began working in the delivery sector, his family said.

Neeraj said his son had formed a team of delivery workers who worked under his supervision.

The deceased’s sister Noni said she had already sent a Rakhi for her brother and Vishu had promised to give her a ring on Raksha Bandhan.

Vishu's uncle and former councillor Nitin Bhardwaj said the family is now completing formalities to bring his mortal remains to India.
