The makers of the Telugu film Mahakali, directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, have unveiled a video glimpse of the film. Billed as a multilingual spectacle, the film stars Akshaye Khanna as Shukracharya. The video, titled #Shukracharya’sWarCry, also announces the film’s release date as January 8, 2027.
The video offers glimpses of how the stage is set for a battle between dharma and adharma. According to a statement from the makers, the battle is led by Shukracharya, the formidable guru of the asuras, and the battle hints at a war that could determine the fate of the world. An ominous note “the end begins” hints at an epic battle in Mahakali.
The film also stars Bhoomi Shetty, Rohit Saraf, Sriya Reddy, Khusboo Sundar, Rakesh Bedi, Samuthirakani, Rajat Kapoor, Murali Sharma and Nassar.
Director Prasanth Varma’s Hanu-Man was the first film of the PVCU (formerly described as Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe). Now renamed as Purana Veera Chitra Udyam, the universe aims to transform Indian stories into visually spectacular big-screen experiences.
Presented by RK Duggal and produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the RKD Studios banner, Mahakali serves as the next installment in PVCU.
