Mangaluru South Police have arrested a man who had been absconding for over 12 years in connection with a 2014 dacoity and kidnapping-for-ransom case. The accused, identified as Shakeel (33), had been listed as a Long Pending Case (LPC) offender after repeatedly evading arrest.

According to police, the case dates back to 2014, when a dacoity and kidnapping-for-ransom incident was reported in Mangaluru. Despite multiple attempts by investigators over the years, the accused remained on the run until a recent operation led to his capture.

Officers tracked the suspect's movements and arrested him during a targeted operation. Authorities said his arrest marks a significant breakthrough in resolving one of the district's long-pending criminal cases. Further legal proceedings are now underway.
