Mansoor Ali Khan’s Mahadevapura voter-roll complaint forwarded to ECI

The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) has forwarded Rajya Sabha MP Mansoor Ali Khan’s complaint regarding the electoral rolls of Mahadevapura Assembly constituency to the Election Commission of India (ECI), asking that the grievances be examined as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Karnataka.

The Mahadevapura Assembly constituency has been at the centre of a major political controversy in Bengaluru over allegations of manipulation of electoral rolls. The issue escalated after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged large-scale “vote chori” during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, accusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP of electoral fraud. The allegations included claims that more than one lakh ineligible or fraudulent votes had been systematically added to the electoral rolls.

In a communication dated August 14, Mr. Khan was informed that his application seeking verification of voter entries in Mahadevapura had been forwarded to the ECI for consideration of the grievances during the SIR process.

Mr. Khan said questions raised over the Mahadevapura electoral rolls could no longer be dismissed as political allegations. “For months, questions about the Mahadevapura voter rolls were dismissed as political allegations. They cannot be dismissed anymore. The Karnataka State Election Commission has formally forwarded the complaint to the Election Commission of India and asked that it be examined through the SIR process. The issue is now squarely before the ECI,” he said.
