A Mihrab conference organised by the Kerala Muslim Jamaat here on Tuesday (September 29) called upon mahals across the State to adopt a friendly and inclusive approach towards all sections of the community.
Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama (Kanthapuram) secretary Ponmala Abdul Khader Musliar inaugurated the conference organised ahead of the Samastha centenary celebrations. Kerala Muslim Jamaat district president Vadassery Hasan Musliyar presided.
Speaking at a session on ‘Comprehensive Mahal’, Islamic scholar Maliyekkal Sulaiman Saquafi said mahals should work towards the welfare and progress of all residents and become self-sufficient communities.
He said they should focus on education, employment, health, and financial discipline, and provide support and solutions in these areas.
Sunni Yuvajana Sangham State secretary Rahmathulla Saquafi Elamaram, who spoke on ‘Mihrab: Mission and Practice’, said mahals should engage with women, children, youth, and senior citizens through empathy and dialogue.
Around 500 qazis, khatibs, imams, and mahal presidents attended the conference.
