Nepal floods: At least 13 people from Karnataka yet to be traced, says CM

At least 13 people stranded in Nepal following floods are yet to be traced, while the remaining had been accounted for, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Monday.

“My officials have been in touch with those who have been traced, and some of them have also spoken to the people concerned,” he said.

The State government officials said that Mr. Shivakumar and Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara are in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Resident Commissioner at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi to facilitate the safe return of those from the State.

The Resident Commissioner has constituted dedicated teams to track the situation and coordinate with authorities.

The State government is collating details of stranded and missing persons through a Google Form and the SEOC helpline. The consolidated information is being shared with the Rapid Response Cells of the MEA, Indian Missions in Kathmandu and Beijing, and the Integrated Control Room of the Ministry of Home Affairs to facilitate search, rescue, and repatriation efforts. The Embassy of India in Beijing has also opened two 24-hour helplines in the Tibet Autonomous Region to assist families seeking information about missing persons.
