‘OM – Chapter 1’: Mammootty is Burma Karthikeyan in Dhanush-Rajkumar Periasamy’s next

On Mamootty’s 75th birthday on Monday, the makers unveiled a special teaser introducing the superstar’s character from the film

The makers of Om - Chapter 1, Tamil star Dhanush’s upcoming film with director Rajkumar Periasamy, unveiled a special teaser introducing Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s character. The teaser was unveiled on Monday, September 7, on Mammootty’s 75th birthday.

The teaser introduces Mammootty as Burma Karthikeyan, a powerful gangster in an international crime network under investigation by Interpol. Affectionately called ‘Siya’ by locals, Karthikeyan refuses to call himself a good man. “I’m a smuggler, aren’t I? We can’t say I am a golden man. Perhaps a gold with a lot of impurities,” says Karthikeyan as we also see Dhanush’s character work under the former.

OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood also stars Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in pivotal roles. With music scored by Sai Abhyankkar, the film has cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K and editing by R Kalaivanan.

Produced by Shraddha Agarwal, Dhanush, and Azmat Jagmag under their Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios banner, the film is set to release in theatres on October 16.
