‘Penance’ padayatra: Bidadi hoardings take jibe at BJP-JD(S)

A newspaper advertisement and hoardings put up across Bidadi in the name of farmers who allegedly suffered due to the red zone imposed on lands in Bidadi took a jibe at the joint padayatra undertaken by the JD(S) and BJP against the Bidadi Township Project.

The banners described the padayatra as a penance by the BJP and JD(S), whose own erstwhile government had initiated the Bidadi Township Project. The banners sought to highlight the contrast between the JD(S) and the BJP having started the project and now opposing it.

The hoardings featured animated images of Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy walking by holding the hand of his son and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa holding the hand of his son and BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra.

Reacting to the posters, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok questioned why the Congress was pursuing the project, asking what penance it wanted to undertake.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kumaraswamy also reacted, saying that he knew which real estate person was behind the banners and advertisements, while hinting that it was not farmers who had put up such banners.
