Member of Parliament for Bangalore South, L.S. Tejasvi Surya, on Monday hinted that the Namma Metro’s elevated Pink Line will likely be inaugurated on November 13.
Taking to X, the lawmaker wrote “November 13” with the hashtag #PinkLine, hinting at the opening. However, sources in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) said they were yet to receive a communication from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Last week, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that the line was likely to be inaugurated mid-November. The State government had been waiting for the Union government to give a date for their representative’s availability for inauguration.
The elevated Pink Line spans 7.5 km, covering six stations, including Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, and Tavarekere.
The 7.5-km stretch, which is ready for inauguration, is part of the 21.3-km Pink Line. Once opened, the operational Namma Metro network will be extended from the current 96.10 km to 103.60 km.
The remaining 13.8 km of the Pink Line is an underground corridor. The underground section will connect Dairy Circle to Tannery Road via M.G. Road and Shivajinagar. When the line becomes fully operational, it will connect the southern part of the city with the central part, facilitating travel for many office-goers.
