The Karnataka Prisons Department’s proposal to shift Prajwal Revanna, former Hassan MP, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case, from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison has been temporarily put on hold.
According to Prison Department sources, Revanna was to be shifted to the Hindalga Prison, but the move has been put on hold due to “administrative and technical” reasons.
The development comes on the heels of Revanna allegedly being found in possession of a mobile phone during a Central Crime Branch (CCB) raid on the prison on August 11.
Recently, the Parappana Agrahara police obtained a body warrant for further investigation into the case. The police had sought his custody to ascertain how the prohibited phone reached Revanna and how it was being used inside the prison.
