Is it a crime comedy? Is it an investigative thriller? Is it a family drama? What if the film is a combination of all these aspects? Director Vivek Athreya’s new Telugu film, led by actor Ravi Teja, has released a short video, The Title Documentary, that discusses the concept of the film, and how the title needs to do a balancing act in conveying what the film stands for. The video shows the actors brainstorming on the title, before zeroing in on Thulabaram, signifying the balance they have to strike.

Thulabaram will be Ravi Teja’s 78th film and his first collaboration with Vivek Athreya, who is known for his distinct style of storytelling. Produced by Laxman and Srini Rao for Bridge Productions, the film was launched in Hyderabad on Sunday morning.

The Title Documentary also introduces the film’s key characters — Anil Karella as Jadeja, Ravi Anthony as Robin, Anaswara Rajan as Sound, Tharun Bhascker as Devaraj, JD Chakravarthy as Sivaji Rao, and Priyanka Mohan as Krishnaveni.

Ravi Teja, fresh off the success of Irumudi, will be exploring a crime drama, and the film reintroduces him as The Crime Maharaja, rather than Mass Maharaja, as he is often referred to.

Thulabaram will bring together Vivek Athreya and music composer Vivek Sagar following Brochevarevarura and Ante Sundaraniki. The film will have cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Raviteja Girijala and production design by GM Sekhar.
