‘Sacrifice’ trailer: Fading star Chris Evans is taken hostage by Anya Taylor-Joy in adventure-comedy

The trailer of Chris Evans’ upcoming adventure comedy film, Sacrifice was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (September 17, 2026). Written by Will Arbery and Romain Gavras, who has also directed it, the film also stars Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, Anya Taylor-Joy, John Malkovich and Salma Hayek Pinault in pivotal roles.
The trailer introduces Chris playing a fading superstar, who attends an environmental gala where he and two other guests are kidnapped by Joan (Anya) and her radical followers, who think that a volcanic event will cleanse the planet. “An extinction event is coming. The mountain of fire is famished, so we must offer you into its magma,” she tells them inviting surprising reactions as the film promises to be an absurd comedy with some hypnotic visuals at its center.
Sacrifice is produced by Gavras, Robert Walak, Jacob Perlin, Gregory Jankilevitsch, Klaudia Śmieja-Rostworowska and Giorgios Karnavas.
The film premiered at TIFF last year with Netflix later acquiring its domestic rights in May. It will hit the streamer on October 16.
Chris was last seen in The Materialists, which also featured Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal. He will next be reprising his role of Captain America in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
