Urvashi Cinema, one of Bengaluru’s most iconic single-screen theatres, is set to close its doors after 50 years. For generations of filmgoers, it was more than just a theatre — it was a place where first-day-first-shows, fan celebrations, whistles, cheers and countless movie memories came alive. Urvashi has screened several blockbusters of ShahRukhKhan, Yash and Rajinikanth.

It was once a go-to-place for big Hollywood movies. As Bengaluru continues to change, the closure of Urvashi marks the end of another chapter in the city’s rich single-screen culture. This is a small tribute to a theatre that remained a favourite among movie lovers since 1976.
