Raising the slogan “Women will bring inquilab (revolution)”, thousands of people, following a lengthy people’s tribunal protest, joined the ‘Chappal Protest’ to express solidarity with women facing violence and discrimination across the country.

The protest came in the backdrop of the recent alleged assault on a journalist while she was covering a protest in Delhi and the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl near Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi.

Some women carried chappals as a symbol of resistance. Women at the protest spoke about injustices they had faced, ranging from domestic violence and gender-based violence to rape and harassment.
