A migrant worker killed another over a petty quarrel in Ghataprabha of Belagavi district on Saturday.
Arun Kumar Balishtar Chauhan, working at Priya Steels in PG Hunshyal village, stabbed Satiram alias Sitaram Chandradev, who bled to death.
Both hailed from Puranpur in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh.
They had got into an altercation about who ate how much during supper. The two were under the influence of alcohol, when the crime happened, the police said.
“After committing the murder, the accused took the deceased to the Gokak Taluk Government Hospital and made an attempt to cover up the crime by falsely informing the doctors that the man died due to a fall only to record a false Medico-Legal Case,” the police said.
The police have arrested the accused and got him remanded to judicial custody.
