‘America America 2’ trailer: Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar promises a feel-good love triangle

Starring Shanvi Srivastava, Nirup Bhandari and Pruthvi Ambaar, the Kannada movie is a spiritual sequel to 1997 blockbuster ‘America America’

The makers of America America 2have released a trailer for the movie. Veteran filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar has directed the movie. The Kannada relationship drama stars Shanvi Srivastava, Nirup Bhandari, and Pruthvi Ambaar.

The film is only a spiritual sequel to Nagathihalli’s classic, America America. The 1997 blockbuster, starring Ramesh Aravind, Akshay Anand and Hema Prabhath, was the first Kannada movie to be released in the US. Apart from an intense love triangle, the movie also showcased Indians’ pursuit of the American Dream at the cost of emotional isolation.

America America 2, shot primarily in Seattle, the largest city in the US, also has portions of its story set in Mysuru. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar has reunited with Mano Murthy for the music of the movie. The duo’s work for America America is still appreciated among the Kannada film fraternity.

The trailer hints at yet another emotionally charged relationship drama. The love triangle seems to have been shot against gorgeous backdrops. Shanvi’s character is torn between two men (essayed by Nirup and Pruthvi).

Actor Daali Dhananjaya released the trailer on August 30, 2026, in Mysuru. During the launch, Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar said, “In another 10–11 days, I am about to give birth, and the labour pains have already started. There is both fear and anxiety.” He explained that during his 30-year journey, there had been repeated requests to make this film, but he had been waiting for the right time. He felt that the right time had finally arrived.

“I always make films believing that the audience is more intelligent than me. I have immense faith and respect for Kannada audiences. They have given so much respect to an ordinary teacher like me,” he said.

Nakul Abhyankar has worked on the background score for the movie. America America 2 is based on a novel by Sahana Vijaykumar. Sri Crazy Mindz is the editor while SK Rao has done the cinematography.

Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar has produced the movie under his banner Nagathihalli Cine Creations. America America 2 is slated to release in theatres on September 11.
