Prime Video has released the new trailer for Carrie, giving fans a closer look at Mike Flanagan’s eight-episode television adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan playing her fiercely religious mother, Margaret, in the first series adaptation of King’s story. The show premieres on Prime Video on October 7, 2026.
The trailer follows Carrie as she enters public high school after spending her childhood isolated at home. Her attempts to make friends quickly collide with the cruelty of her classmates, while a humiliating incident in the school locker room becomes a viral spectacle. As the bullying spreads online, Carrie’s telekinetic abilities begin to intensify, pushing the story towards the infamous school dance that has defined the novel and its previous adaptations.
Flanagan’s version shifts the story firmly into the contemporary era, where teenage humiliation can become public entertainment within minutes. The series expands the world around Carrie and gives greater attention to the people and circumstances surrounding her, including the origins and development of her supernatural abilities. Flanagan has described the project as a reinvention of King’s novel, with the eight-episode format allowing him to explore material that previous film adaptations had limited space to cover.
The cast also includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Several of Flanagan’s regular collaborators also appear, including Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Crystal Balint and Michael Trucco.
Carrie marks the first time King’s novel has been adapted as a television series. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film, starring Sissy Spacek, remains the best-known screen version, followed by the 2013 feature starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Flanagan previously adapted King’s Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, while his adaptation of The Life of Chuck premiered in 2024.
All eight episodes of Carrie premiere on October 7, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
