Actor Rukmini Vasanth will next be seen in a film directed by Shree Karthick. The filmmaker is known for his debut feature, the science fiction Telugu drama Oke Oka Jeevitham (Kanam in Tamil). The movie is produced by Madboys Entertainment and Siruni Cine Corporation.
Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan will also star in the yet-to-be-titled movie. The announcement was made through a fun video. The video shows the film team visiting Rukmini’s office to narrate the script. She appears like she is impressed with the story and her character is then introduced as Thara.
“From the very first narration, the energy around this film has been infectious! Every step towards getting to set has been exciting and it’s been such a joy to be surrounded by so much enthusiasm,” Rukmini wrote on X.
Director Shree Karthick took to social media to talk about the project. “Excited to collaborate with the most beautiful and talented artist. A crazy, adventurous and hearwarming film on the way.”
Rukmini was last seen in the pan-Indian film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The movie, starring Yash, was directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film which had a huge ensemble, including Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Nayantara and Huma Qureshi, received mixed response from critics and fans alike.
The Hindu review of the movie said, “Toxic finds its purpose far too late. Until then, the film holds our attention largely through its visual grandeur. We sit through all the slick action, gorgeous frames, and enormous production design, desperately hoping that they will eventually be backed by a compelling story. Geetu had an idea, and Yash had a vision for it. But what we finally receive is a mismatched blend of both.”

Rukmini is currently working on an untitled Malayalam project with Nivin Pauly. Directed by Nashid Famy, the movie marks Rukmini’s debut in Mollywood. She will also be seen in Prashanth Neel’s magnus opus Dragon, starring Jr NTR in the lead.
