In the murder of seven family members by a cab driver in Bengaluru, a preliminary probe found that the accused’s 17-year-old daughter allegedly helped him in the murders and attempted to destroy evidence. The minor girl, named as an accused in the FIR, is now being questioned by the police, sources said.

The investigation revealed that the girl was studying at a pre-university college and was close to her father, Indushekar, as confirmed by neighbourhood residents who spoke to The Hindu.

A senior police officer said the girl was suspected of having assisted in “packing” and “disposing of” the bodies. Besides, the crime scene was thoroughly cleaned after each murder to destroy evidence, and the police are investigating whether the minor helped Indushekar clean up the scenes.

Another officer said there was a suspicion that Indushekar had sought his daughter’s help in inviting the two deceased couples for dinner. However, the police are yet to ascertain this.

“We are also shocked at how he coaxed the minor girl into helping him. We will investigate whether the girl was brainwashed and how she became involved in the murders,” the officer told The Hindu.

According to the FIR, the minor girl has also been named in the case, as Indushekar stated during questioning that he had “got assistance from his daughter”. The police have also noted that, prima facie, the accused appears to have taken his daughter’s help despite knowing that she was a minor.
