The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) will host its annual open day on September 16, 2026, opening its campus at GKVK to students, educators, and the public to explore research and facilities at NCBS.
The event will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first half of the day is reserved for schools and colleges, with students having the opportunity to interact with around 30 stalls set up by NCBS students and research facilities. These stalls will feature interactive exhibits exploring biology at different scales, from molecules to ecosystems.
From afternoon on, the event will be open to the public with no registration required. Visitors can explore the exhibits and attend a series of public talks by NCBS faculty.
The afternoon will feature talks by Uma Ramakrishnan, professor at NCBS; Shashi Thutupalli, whose research explores the physical principles underlying living systems, and L.S. Shashidhara, director of NCBS.
The open day will feature interactive exhibits and conversations with scientists and will offer visitors an opportunity to discover the breadth of biological research taking place at the centre and engage with the people behind it. Entry is free to all.
