Around 30 passengers had a narrow escape after a tourist bus traveling from Goa to Thrissur overturned into a nearly ten-foot-deep area near the Bekal bridge in Kasaragod in the early hours of Sunday (October 25. 2026).

A few passengers sustained minor injuries to their hands and legs, but no serious injuries were reported.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. when the bus reached the area near the Bekal bridge.

According to preliminary information, the driver swerved suddenly to avoid colliding with a car that allegedly came from the opposite direction after veering onto the wrong side of the road.

The driver lost control of the bus, which broke through the roadside railing before overturning into the low-lying area near the bridge.

Local residents who heard the noise rushed to the spot and immediately launched rescue operations. The overturned bus was lifted using a crane to rescue the passengers.

Those who sustained minor injuries were taken to a private hospital in Uduma, where they received treatment. After receiving medical attention, the passengers travelled to their destination in another bus.
