‘D 56’: Dhanush and Vadivelu to share screen space; film goes on floors

‘D 56’, starring Dhanush, Preity Mukhundhan, Vadivelu and SJ Suryah, is directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu

The filming of Dhanush’s upcoming movie, tentatively titled D 56, has begun. The Tamil movie is directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu of Lubber Pandhu fame.

D 56 is the first collaboration between Dhanush and Pachamuthu. The movie is jointly produced by Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments, Haritha Lingasamy of Primark Productions and Sai Soujanya of Srikar Studios.

The shooting commenced with a special pooja at the Karuppasamy Temple in Maranadu, Sivagangai district, near Madurai. The event was attended by the film’s cast and crew along with several prominent personalities. Veteran actor Vadivelu is set to play a prominent roel in the movie.

“After a long time, I have got the opportunity to act alongside Dhanush sir,” said Vadivelu. “People are asking me why we didn’t collaborate before. In cinema, certain things have to happen at the right time. I am very happy that this opportunity has come now.” Vadivelu added that this is a “unique film without any political undertones.”

Actor S.J. Suryah, who is set to play an important role, said, “I would definitely like to thank Dhanush sir, the director, and the production companies for this. Tamizharasan Pachamuthu is an excellent writer and director. After a long time, we have a filmmaker who can create such wonderful emotions through his writing.”

Preity Mukhundhan is the female lead in the movie while Vijay Kumar will play a prominent role. Sai Abhyankkar has been roped in as the music composer. Meanwhile, Dhanush recently released a statement confirming that his upcoming movie, titled Om: Chapter 1, has been postponed. The movie, slated to release on October 16, has avoided a clash with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which will release on October 15.

“Our superstar, Rajinikanth sir, the man whom we have all admired and worshipped over the years, has his film arriving on October 15th, just a day before ours. Out of immense respect for him, we have decided to postpone the release of our film, OM, to a later date,” Dhanush said. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy of Amaran fame, the movie has Malayalam superstar Mammootty playing a crucial character.
