YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Bhimavaram in West Godavari district on July 15 to interact with aqua farmers and review the challenges facing the State’s aquaculture sector.

During the visit, Mr. Jagan will meet aqua farmers, hear their grievances and gather first-hand information on the financial difficulties affecting their livelihoods. He is also expected to reiterate the YSRCP’s support for the farming community and assure them that the party will continue to raise their concerns.

The former Chief Minister will discuss the condition of the aquaculture sector with farmers and seek direct feedback on the issues confronting them. The party said the interaction is aimed at gaining a clearer understanding of the situation on the ground and strengthening its efforts to press for measures to address the problems faced by the sector.

In a press release issued on Monday, the YSRCP said the visit comes amid what it described as a deepening crisis in the aquaculture industry, with farmers suffering losses owing to falling prices for aqua produce, rising input costs, higher electricity charges, export-related issues and inadequate government support. Mr. Jagan has repeatedly criticised the government’s handling of the sector, alleging that the concerns of aqua farmers have not received adequate attention. Through the Bhimavaram visit, he will assess the situation first hand and reinforce the party’s campaign in support of aqua farmers and their demands, the release added.
