Tom Cruise has joined the growing chorus of praise for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, sharing his enthusiastic reaction after attending an advance screening of the filmmaker’s latest epic.
Taking to social media, Cruise thanked Nolan, producer Emma Thomas and the film’s cast and crew for what he described as an exceptional night at the movies.
“Wow! To Chris, Emma, and ALL of your brilliant cast and crew. Thank you for an amazing night in a movie theater. I can’t wait to see it again!”

The actor accompanied the post with a photograph of himself holding a ticket outside an IMAX 70mm screening of the film, reinforcing his long-standing advocacy for the theatrical experience.

Adapted from Homer’s ancient epic, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, whose decade-long journey home after the Trojan War is filled with mythical creatures, gods and deadly trials. The ensemble cast also includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Elliot Page.
Cruise and Nolan have never collaborated, but both have become some of Hollywood’s strongest champions of cinema exhibition. The Odyssey has also made filmmaking history as the first narrative feature shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, pushing the format to a scale never before attempted.
The endorsement continues Cruise’s habit of publicly celebrating films made by fellow filmmakers. Over the years, he has urged audiences to watch Nolan’s Tenet and Oppenheimer in cinemas, while also promoting titles including Sinners, Twisters, F1: The Movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Running Man and Disclosure Day.
Cruise’s support for theatrical releases has become a defining part of his career. He famously resisted streaming offers for Top Gun: Maverick during the pandemic, insisting the film should be experienced on the big screen. The blockbuster eventually earned nearly $1.5 billion worldwide and was widely credited with helping revive theatrical exhibition.
The Odyssey has enjoyed a major global rollout, with Nolan, Thomas and stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland recently travelling to Mumbai for the film’s first-ever India premiere before its worldwide release.
Cruise, meanwhile, is preparing for the release of his next film, Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The first trailer debuted earlier this week, revealing the actor in one of the most dramatic physical transformations of his career.
